Re: Help choosing snare drum

I had another thought too, you might want to look into a Ludwig Black Beauty. The Black Beauty is nickel over brass and it sounds killer too.

I think the Supraphonic would work also, it is chrome over aluminum. This is the most recorded snare drum in history which should tell you it would be worth considering.

Der, unfortunately the guy that brings the snares to my country and sells them, doesn't sell Ludwig, so I can't buy them. Originally, the Supras were my first choice

Re: Help choosing snare drum

Thats a bummer, Ludwig snares are top notch.

Well then I personally would go with the Starclassic brass then. This will give you a less pingy (softer) sounds and still give you nice attack. I don't see how you could go wrong with the Tama.

santiman12, you can buy it from EBay or Craigslist. Or even and a music store on line like musiciansfriend.com, SamAsh.com or Guitarcenter.com. On craigslist or EBay you can also find out if there is some oe close to you so you can pick it up.

Re: Help choosing snare drum

Guys, I'm from argentina and the customs here are not relatively safe (sometimes things get stolen) so I'd feel safer if someone else brought the snare.

And Der, yeah, you read my mind haha, I think I'm gonna choose the tama because it's less pingy than the stainless steel. Thank you, I'll let you know what I choose

I understand the customs situation for sure, no need to lose a snare you just paid big money for.

Let me know when you get it would you? I am interested to see what you think about your new drum.

Sure haha. I'll post some pics too. One question, the stainless steel snares are the one hat when you hit them do some kind of "poiing " noise?. Thanks

Yup, that poing noise is what I mean when I say it is ringy or pingy.

Re: Help choosing snare drum

Guys, searching a little more, I've found the Pearl Sensitone Brass. Do you think this snare will work as good as the Tama Brass?. Of the two configurations (14x6.5 and 14x5) which one do you recommend me?.

here's the link so you don't have to look it up:
