I guess my favorite drummer would be Ringo Starr. He was on the cutting edge of a 'new style and beat of Rock. He was lucky to be a Beatle but his own influence made their music unique. Ringo never seemed to "miss" a beat and there was much more percussion extras in their songs. I think his play opened the opportunity for drummers to express sounds and rythums.
Also I like other drummers, Gene Krupa, a showman drummer and Buddy Rich as well. Jazz drummers that played "Topsy Part I & II. I guess I dated myself again. But I think most drummers like their comptempary style. Mostly we recall the drummers that played a song that we really liked. Maybe we should hear about the best song by a certain drummer.
