Recording at home

Im after recording my stuff at home, what do any of you guys use or recommend?
Along with software what else do you need?

if your looking for stuff to use use sound recordeing xz54 newly released pretty expensive though for good sound quality recording its worth it.

I've got a Yamaha mixer with two sets of the Shure SM57-52 mic kits.

SM 57's are the most common mic's used for all sorts of recordings and the are very durable.

Protools is also another standard of the recording industry software. It's very pricey and the support is not available on weekends.

If you want to record your partrs to different tracks you're going to need an audio interface with multiple inputs.

I'm using two dsp2000's or c-ports which gives me 16 seperate inputs.

Shure sm 48's are a good cheap mike. So is the mdk drum pack from ebay.

Your absolutely right skinslapper, an interface also plays an important part. What software do you use?

I'm currently suffering with the old cubase vst32, but you get what you pay for.

My guitarist will begin sound engineering study soon, included is a fresh new copy of logic. Reckon I'll have to pinch that one.
