How goes Gents,
Been busy haven’t been around in a while how’s life in the drum lane.
I've attempted over the course of the past 4 months to establish myself as a session head and now working with 5 bands, one a recent signed act with an Irish and UK some European Tour dates. It's tough as I'm out drumming 4 out of 7 nights and working full time during the day and of course have 3 young kids with my wife due our 4th in less than 5 weeks - but what can you do - need the bread - as Ireland is in the swamp with this recession things are tough for everyone.
I'm going back to lessons with an old Gent a real old school Jazz drummer - and can't wait. One of my many regrets is I can't read drum music and I know this is key to becoming a respected professional player. I went to an advanced Jazz ensemble and although I blew the drummer away with my ability by comparison, when the music score came out - he could understand and play it to perfection - while I sat there with a red face - so invariably when it comes to the top end - although my natural ability was much better - I reckon he would win out most times.
It's amazing you know, I was off the skins for over 9 years and only got back in on them last November and at 37 I feel like a 20 year old kid again and full of passion for playing - check out my basic MySpace site - I'm working on getting my own site up soon - but for now check
