Re: Bouble Bass technique

Start s-l-o-w. And I mean dead slow. If you have a metronome (If not get one) set it medium slow, and alternate feet every click or beep. Really slow R L R L R L R L. Another good technique is lead with one foot in a steady pattern (count to four) and then add the other. it would be R R R R R L R L R L R L R R R R R L R L R L R L. Alternate leading feet. You probably won't be doing Derek Roddy impressions right away but the speed will come eventually.

Re: Bouble Bass technique

Have you already been playing double bass or is it a pedal problem?

Some others have been complaining about pdp pedals. Shouldn't have probs if it's your first though.

No, never played before i just got the pedal yesterday. First time I ever touched one before, except for at the Medford GC for their quiet room.

Some basic advise - just to get your timing right - when playing start with the following

1 and a 2 and a 3 and a 4

Bell or High hat
1 & a 2 & a 3 & a 4

Bell on each quarter note so on 1,2,3,4 only

Snare

1 & a 2 & a 3 & a 4

Snare on 2 and 4 only

Bass
1 & a 2 & a 3 & a 4
R L R L R L R L R L

Bass on all notes inc. rest notes

I had it scored better but the system won't let me send it in that way so hope above is clear

Phil.

Phil, it's the "&a" part that throws me off.

I go Uno, Dos, Tres, Audie Quatro.

See if this works. Its a double kick lesson that I made. I'm no pro, but this is how I learned.
