Whats use for Paradiddle Strokes?

Of the 3 strokes people have told me to learn, the paradiddle is the hardest, but I like practicing it, because I can see my progress with it a lot more than the double or single strokes. So, I don't mind r\practing it, but what the usage for it? Am I hearing in it a lot of songs and just not realzing it or something?

I am sure you can hear a paradiddle in many rock tunes but they are not only played exclusively on the snare drum. They are mixed with hi hat and snare, tom and snare and more. Here is a link to just one way to mix a paradiddle between snare and hi hat:

Paradiddle Mix

....and if you listen closely you an here double paradiddles in this jazz tune

Here's a You Tube lesson you might like. It's a bit tedious to get through but there are a few good ideas. I'd skip his "variations of a paradiddle" part because that's really just different combinations of single and double strokes. The straight single paradiddle and double paradiddle patterns are worth learning.

Try using it in a beat with your right foot and left hand. Speed it up slow it down, it sounds really cool and gives you a work out to boot.
