This is really a personal preference (as everyone else has said)
But I do love those K mastersounds.
Just try them out before you buy and find your budget.
Good Luck!
I use 14" K Custom Session Dark. (List $695.00) But I have a Hand Hammered 16" Turk Master Hats coming too. I use two sets of hats personally, regular and remote. Several of the world's best drummers have used my Turk Masters cymbals as backline. I wouldn’t trade them! One (Bob Dylan’s drummer) even went and bought a set the next morning after using mine as backline. I agree that Zildjins Mastersound is another great hat set! I would listen to someone else play them live to get a real grasp of what they sounded like. I once had a set of hats I did not like until I heard another drummer play them. They sounded nothing like they did right next to me.
Ultimately it depends on each drummers taste and requirements. Hal Blaine, or Neil Pert would not require the same cymbal sound as Pete Sandoval.
Use good judgment and do not sell out for price unless that really is the cymbal you want.
Good Luck!
Boom Boom
I would go for the k customs. I never really liked the sound of any Sabians. To me they seem to thick and just don't shimmer enough for the crashes. For the hats I always thought that the sabians were too bright and didn't respond well at low volumes when I compared the new beats and AAs.
