Lightbulb Crazy Grids - Playing all the Permutatons

Anyone on here into gridding stuff?

Gridding is something we do in the marching percussion world to expand our rudimental vocabulary. We take a rhythm, or a rudiment, and play it through every possible accent permutation. It really prepares your hands to play pretty much anything.

Over the last year I've gotten really into gridding the most crazy stuff I can think of... check it out:

The Flam Buzz

The Doctoral Thesis

The Flam Five

The Cheese Chuchudah

The Bookmark

Flam Drags, Forward and Backwards (Kinda Old)

2-Accent Backwards Book Report

Tell me what you guys think

When I was marching in DCI we warmed up with these types of drills. You are right, if you can play this tight with 7 other snare drummers (or quins for that matter), then you are ready to play just about anything.

awesome, i've got a couple friends who marched BK in the 90's... i think they were in the 96, 99 and 2000 lines. BK had some really nasty drumlines.

Dang nice skills man. We need to start posting more notation and sharing more musical ideas around here.

I'm personally working a single 5 stroke into my everyday playing. It's hard 'coz my brain just wants to speed into a six all the time.

I wish we had americas drumming culture down here.
