Looking for a Drum teacher

Can any UK members of this site recommend a drum Teacher in the Essex area. Failing that any pointers on web sites or magazines that advertise tuition would be very helpful.

Feel free to share any tips on finding a teacher and also and what to look for in a teacher.

Cheers Jim, a Google search is always a good place to start of course .

Thought I would take a punt with my post as it's great to get a teacher that comes recommended.

Any tips or questions I should bear in mind when sounding out possible teachers?

Brass!

The best advice on teachers I can give you is to try them out and if there is something about them or their teaching style you don't like move on. Don't feel obligated to stay, if you are not comfortable or dislike the teaching method you will only slow or stop your own progress.

Re: Looking for a Drum teacher

Ok so a bit of an update. I have found a guy that is pretty local to me. He seemed like a good guy on the phone and I will be having a trial session with him next week.

The only thing that I am a little worried about is that he teaches using an electric kit (a Roland TD9 V-kit to be precise). Now I have never played an electric kit and I'm worried how it will effect the way I play and learn.

So is an electric kit that vastly different to an acoustic in the way it feels? Will I get the same response through the sticks?
