Re: Total embarrassment First and foremost, if youre not doing a drum clinic you need to realize that its about the BAND, not the individual performer.
Hate to break it to you, but playing in a room full people, its unlikely youre going to have more than about half a dozen people who are actually focusing on your drumming anyway, so in a sense, theres no need for the embarassment or stress. Just work on making your individual part fit as good as it can with the rest of the band.
Good musicians are ones that can bring a band to life and play the right thing at the right time. A flashy, overly-complicated drummer is a horrible thing to have to listen to, and certainly not a good drummer in my book - and I would know, I had that very problem earlier in my career.
When you are referring to 'getting somewhere' are you talking about your band? If so, put the sticks down and study management, because OFFSTAGE is where all the opportunities are created.
Best of luck. |

Re: Total embarrassment Hey LB JR Can you take some lessons? if that's possible do it if not you have to teach yourself to get where you want to be. Go on you tube and watch some lessons that are free and there are other lessons you can find on line that can help. Where are you on drums? do you know anything at all do you know any rudiments? Let me know I may be able to help. |

Re: Total embarrassment Yeah, don't sweat the nerves dude. If they're really getting you down, just remember, you're up the back, sectioned off from the eyes by this wall of instrument, in your own little world. But don't forget to communicate with your band. |

Re: Total embarrassment I know how you feel LB Jr. I consider myself to be a pretty good drummer so I made a few drum covers of songs and put them on youtube and stuff. I was nervous putting them up because I made a lot of little mistakes in my playing. But overall my playing fit into the song and no one really even noticed any of the mistakes and everyone kept saying I was a really good drummer. You'll do great as long as you part fits into the music and its not overcomplicated like Damo said. Btw I'm 14 so I'm not too much older than you |

Re: Total embarrassment Nervousness is usually from lack of confidence in your ability. You are half way to overcoming it right now by knowing you are good at what you are doing. The rest of your fear will be gone once you put yourself into the situation you fear enough that you just are not hesitant about your performance anymore.
All you need now is more exposure and you will be fine. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
