What do you think of this kit

Don't let the design fool you. I have the rack on wheels for periodic cleaning the area. Moved the rack back into place and everything stayed in it's place.
As long as you have a strong hand, you can clamp these reliably well.

Out of the 7 plus years of owning the rack, only once my son came to me complaining about a loose clamp. It turned out to be an" ID- ten - T", error. If you write the number on a peace of paper, you'll get the joke.
Problem was that he did not tighten a clamp properly, it was loosely mounted.

So as the Terminator says: No Problemo with this rack system. I recommend this rack system and I'm not looking for any proceeds from Gibraltar.

Hint: If you buy Gibraltar racks, think as an engineer or a plumber and do some research to see what parts you need before you purchase them.
Remember that it's a huge investment that your making.

The reason I am asking is I have a line on a 7pc DW with a Gibraltar rack system. Wanted to consider it completely before I decide to purchase it or not.

As long as the drums are made for rack mounting, then there should be no problems.

I really don't like commit to suggestions, so far as to 'yes or no' goes' so I make it as a maybe.

If something doesn't work for you, but it does for others and that sort of thing.

If it works for you, Great. In other words "don't blame me" if the same shoe doesn't fit.

Good morning Gents - well I made the decision granted an impuslive one and bought the DW Kit I was telling you about - here goes 10,12,14,16, 14 snare, 22 kick - Red satin Oil collector series - made 2005 - also all clamps, and a curved PDP rack - never used a rack before find it a bit weird to start for drum positioning anyway the lot for 2,000 euro - Coulnd't really afford it - but hey your a long time dead plus i'v just scored another band for session work so hopefully I'll have it paid off soon - just thought the deal was to good to pass by and gigged with it Sunday night, man the tone of the tom's really kicked through it was great to play and although the snare is not very deep it's so so big - think I'm in love with my drums:0)

Sweet! I think you made the right choice Phil. Given the state of the world economy you might never be able to buy a kit like this for this little money again.

The rack is a new animal for me also, was a bit time consuming to set it up to fit me, I am sure that was the case for you also.

Yes Gents, the racks seem to put you in a different atmosphere. I remember when I played behind a rack for the first time, five years ago. It's like a tingling feel till you get used to them.

I had to get a tripod snare basket for my son, he couldn't get the feel of the single leg basket.

Again my I congratulate you both for making a really great choice on your new toys.

DW's are Goood. So are the rack systems. The again I've got Gretch. Their Good also. Happy Drumming.

Phil how deep is that snare?

If we keep our kits clean and water them regularly do you think they will grow up to be like Tainojim's?

Jim, what do you have in cymbals alone? 5K - 6K?

Is this the part where we get to know how much cash instead of thrash cymbals is in the kits worth?

I'll fess up, the entire kit costs almost 11G's US. With a five year depreciation, I don't know. Some of this stuff was from a retirement gift (money). I did pay for most of it, saving up throughout the years.

It pays off when you give to others and when they are back on their feet, they pay it forward.

I started a thread on Pay It Forward. Check it out. It feels as good to give as well as receive.

I was in Dyer Straights earlier this year and was asking 7G US but the buyer was going back and forth with the deal since December last year and three months had lapsed . So I decided to keep it.

Lucky Me, good fortune has come around again.

P.S. Here is a trick. If you cut a hole into the resonators and plant a tree, I guarantee you that your drums willl grow.

I had a feeling the number was large, but just look at that kit!

I am glad you got to keep them, woulda been a heart breaker to let those go I am sure.
