Re: Wh do you think of this kit As being of Native decent, I've been raised on not getting attached to material things. I was more concerned with putting food on the table than playing at that time.
Can't eat the drums and can't eat the currency. Can't take it with you when your deep six either.
I try to live life to it's fullest, what ever it is.
I just got the urge to go hunting and not the sports kind. Thanks. |

Jim, what do you have in cymbals alone? 5K - 6K? | No need for watering the drums Mr. Der, as I had mentioned before, they sound like that Bose table top radio. No distortion no matter how hard you bang on them. But then again, my drums are water proof. So how would they grow? This forum also has some drummers that have been touched in the head department, but not by an Angle.
A little hummer never hurts anyone. Too many Trekies out there.
Chuckles to all. |

Re: Wh do you think of this kit Tainojim's kit is the daddy I think I need to add more than water - but I've made a good start - thanks for the kind words lads - I'm delighted althought the rack is weird - the snare is only I think 5.5 or 6 deep - but a real cracker - I played a Pearl Master maple Custom about 10years old before this still have it of course - but the DW just outshines for sheer volume and clarity. The rack is not sitting in my head easy yet - I had the 10,12 mounted on the curve and the 14 and 16 on the right side arm, found it really impossible to get proper posture to play the 16" so going to try mount the 3 toms on the curve for this weekend - gigging sat. night in a boozer called the Czech In in Temple Bar - Dublin - cracking rock venue - and the hot Eastern European Chicks help a little also!! - the next thing I need now is some great cymbals - problem is the bread is'nt it always:0) |

I'm not going to try it. Maybe Mikey would, he likes everything. |

Re: Wh do you think of this kit Ah yes the infamous cymbal quest. I am venturing out on that same quest now and finding that cymbals are considerably more money these days than when I purchased last time. I am leaning towrds the Paiste Signatures or the Sabian AAXs myself (mostly because these are at a store very near the bank I would need to rob to get the cash). |

Re: Wh do you think of this kit Don't be so hasty Der,
Before you go into those thoughts, are there any pawn shops near you. Did you forget about E-Bay or haggle your way to a price down at the shops if you purchase a complete set.
Remember the old Rolling Stones song, "You Can't Always Get What You Want. So improvise, there are many ways to hit the cymbals to get all sorts of sounds. Been there, did it. Always find a way to get by.
I still want Bosphorus cymbals. See now, you made me cry. I can't afford them. |

Re: Wh do you think of this kit To be honest I bought a load of Paiste off Thomann Cyberstore few splash and crash but they are rubbish a waste of money - you really need to spend the money on Zildjian the only choice in my humble opinion - however a drummer I know in Dublin - and he's not that hot but has a good web site and teaches a lot - just got endorsed by Meinl - 4K worth of cymbal kit - so I'm in the process of setting up my own website - I'm prety full on session work and although not a Buddy Rich I'm a solid drummer with good old school jazz/funk technique so once the site is up I'm going to chance my arm - if you look at the Meinl website at the end their's a section for endorsements - so anything is worth a crack!! or a zing, splash ping!!!!!
I'll post the site in a few weeks once finished - at least you guys can see me action |

Re: Wh do you think of this kit Sorry if I've offended you. Didn't mean to.
I've been told here in the US that kissing the Blarney Stone was a sign of good luck by other Irish Gents. Unless they were yinging my yang at the pub. Perhaps you can explain it to me so as to not offend anyone else.
Really Mr. Phil, I respect everyone, and if you feel offended in any way, I apologize for any misunderstanding. No undertones here or mad fighting Irish for that matter.
