thats where open handed players usually place their ride, but you can set up your kit however you like.

look up some videos on youtube and search open handed playing on google. see what you can find.

I was thinking if he would play crossed.

But if he can play open, then thats fine. I guess I really didn't mean "weaken"
but open handed across the kit wouldn't be that strong. Say like, if you want to move the ride back to right side after a few months. You won't be used to it...

that is true. i read an article on open handed playing saying that it is good to keep your ride on the right, so that you can play at any kit, as the setup is universal. you can still play open handed, too.
so it would be a good idea to keep it on the right, ya.
