If you take drum lessons, your instructor can tell you your strengths and weaknesses. As you continue with lessons, you can see yourself improve.

If you record yourself playing, you can sit back and listen and decide how well you play a certain song.

If you play with other musicians, they can give you their opinions.

If you make money playing music, you must be at least decent.

Try taking a break if your losing the drumming "feel" BREAK WHAT?!?!?! I went through a point that I became a little bored with drumming. I took a month off of no playing and when I came back to it I couldnt stop! I stll cant stop man. that little break was enough to get me back in the game. trust me it works And I like the hippi

Re: how do we improve ?

I guess other ways I know I can play are:

I can hear myself keeping a good beat. I can hear myself playing a good beat and good fills to a song. I can feel the rhythm while I keep the beat.

Also, instead of asking, "How do I know I can play?" I would like you to tell yourself, everytime you do something well, no matter how small, I would like you to say, "I can play,"
"I can play well," "I'm getting better," "I'm improving," "Wow, that was really good!", and so on.
