Drums are expensive Well looking back on all the drum and percussion stuff I've bought over the years, I've noticed that drums can be really expensive. I've spent close to $5,000 total since my playing about 8 years ago. I know that this may not be a lot for some of you but I'm on a tight budget so this is a pretty hefty price to pay. My biggest investment was a Premier kit I bought for $1,000+ plus all of the Zildjian A cymbals I bought. These things all add up.
So my question is this: How much money total have you spent on drum gear and what was your most expensive drumming investment? |

| | Good question, I've been thinking about that recently because I've just spent a load on a new snare drum (Mapex precious metal stainless steel, beautiful!)... Let me just do some maths....
Off the top of my head I reckon I've spent between £4,000 and £5,000 over the years. Most expensive single purchase was probably the Pearl Eliminator double kick pedal. Or perhaps that Mapex snare.

| | Im not real sure if I really want to know how much I spent because I know my snare alone was over 300$.
I think the thing was that I reaplaced ever single head top and bottom and front and back on everything except the floor toms and that cost me over 400$ just for heads
I would have to say with this kit for everything so far it is around 6000-7000$
Wow what else could I have done with that money. |

But there are things to do to keep the cost down, using different sticks and mallets can drastically change the sound of a simple set, likewise, percussive toys, (woodblock, triangle, ect...) can add a lot of variety without breaking your wallet. |

| | | yea that it can but in the long run even some of the little toys can add up quick, the whole reson I havent bought a cow bell is because i just can see myself spending 50-60 or more for a chunk of metal that I am not going to use all that often in my playing,
also like the price for my heads was a one time deal that I would say every drummer should go thru, I had a great sound on everything after replacing the bottom heads and the top heads, but those bottom heads will prob almost never have to be replaced. |

Worth every penny! | Hm sorry, what's the conversion from pounds to dollars? Looks like a lot but I'm not good with currencies. |
