What heads do you play?

I've played Remos but I found that they loosen up to quickly. A friend of mine told me to check out Evans so I did and they made a sound that I was looking for so now thats what I use the Evans EC2 i don't have to change heads as often now. I also tried Aqiariun heads for my snare the High Energy one you can crank it up and not get that overtone. It is a real versitile head.

Re: What heads do you play?

My CC jazz kit, whick I use for rock and funk stylings has Remo smooth white Emps for the tom batters over Remo Ambassador clear resos. I like the smooth white emps because of the nice snap attack they provide due to the impregnation of the white pigment to the 2 ply mylar. The clear ambs for the resonants have a nice sustain that isn't real ringy and really compliments the smooth white batters nicely.

For my snare drum, I choose the Aquarian Hi Energy batter over an Aquarian Hi Performance snare side. For heavy hitters this combo is IMO the best. I like the HE batter because I have yet to break one and they still offer that sensitivity that I like for dynamics.

Kick drum (18") Gets the Evans EMAD 2 batter and stock resonant head with (2) 2" drumO's ports.

I use Evans G2's with EC resonant heads. Incredible and deep tone without much ring.

Along with an Evans Power Center reverse dot and Hazy 300 on the snare. EQ3 and stock resonants (with a cut porthole) on bass drums.

Re: What heads do you play?

I recently switched heads. I decided to take the plunge and re-skin my entire kit at the same time. I haven't donr this in quite sometime. My skins had become a hodgepodge collection of various heads only replacing them when they broke. I have an 11 piece kit replacing every batter/rezo can cost some money. But I decided to use Evans G2 coated G1 as rezo and some Emads for the kick. It's the first time in years I used coated heads. I'm glad I did I absolutely love them. My kit sound excellent, with the heads tuned just right I get a Fat, rich, fullbodied and warnm sound from these G2's. I'm not craxy about my Emad head. It's not that it's a bad or deficient head in any manner. I just preffer the Aquairan SK II I replaced it with. I will soon get another SK II and put it back on my kick drum. For my snare I recently added a ATTACK brand Terry Bozzio Sig head. It sound fantastic. I am extremely please. Great Attack good penetration and an awsome "Crack " to it. I'm very impressed by Attacks quality. They claim there coating last longer than competeing brands. Well I'm begining to think there correct. To me the coating appears heavier or thicker than The other brands, but none the less The coating seems to be holding up extremely well. Oh before I forget ATTACK'S TR heads tune up really nice and very quickly. I used a Tama drum dial which IMO helps immensly, But still fine tune the last turns of the tension rod by hand. That about wraps up what I'm smackin these day's. Overall I am completely satisfied with my head combo on my kit. Honestly after getting rid of all my old heads and re-skinning my kit at once ( which is how your suppose to do it) My Mapex never sounded so good. T
