Re: Drum Injuries If I were you I would stretch my wrists before and after I played, which would help the muscles in the wrists bounce back quicker.
If they don't get better, it might be the way you are holding the drumstick. Bad technique is the leading cause of wrist injury and could lead you to taking a long break. When you play, make sure your fulcrum is able to balance evenly on your index finger, then wrap the other fingers around it.
There should NOT be a gap between your thumb and the rest of your hand. Use your wrists in movements instead of your arms(when hitting, not moving around the set).
If your technique is fine, soak your wrists in REALLY cold water or put them on an ice pack for fifteen minutes after you play (and after stretching them). If they don't get better, see a doc. |
