Meshuggah - Bleed double bass pattern?

Right, so hey guys.

I was listening to this song the other day, cos someone at school mentioned that it had this 'really intricate sounding bass part'. I was immediately intrigued, as I knew of Tomas Haake's playing, and of the band, but had never listened. I wanted to hear if this was proper hype, or if it was just a bassists' interpritation on what's hard and what's not

So I went home, looked it up, and while looking it up on youtube, found heaps of drum covers, as part of a drum competition. So I thought, wow, this must really be something!

I listened to it, and boy oh boy, was I blown away. It's such an intricate sound, and I'm dying to learn how to play it.
So here's my question:
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to play that brutal grinding track?
Send in whatever you want, links or feet patterns will be lovely

Thanks,
HXCBencore.

From what I heard, it's 32nd notes on the off beat.

Probably.

But that's top secret information.

HXC, it took Haake a year to learn Bleed, and he did it bar-by-bar. I think that's ridiculous. He must not be as good as I thought. Anyway, the part is a cyclic bass pattern, and I can't really help you right now, since I'm in the same situation as you are. I'll tell you what I find out if you tell me what you find, I want to learn it as well.

Good luck to both of us...

Re: Meshuggah - Bleed double bass pattern?

Well my friends suprisingly im not a big fan of messugah (all my friends but me like em), i just think their too repetitive and predictable. Anywayssssss......I looked this up a few months ago their patterns called hertas. They almost remind me of a paradiddle. But they are different. I never incorperated them in death metal but im sure itd be useful to learn. Heres some links i found a while ago on em and they explain em pretty well. Their acually very easy to do, just get the pattern down and your golden, and bleed isnt a hard song, they make it seem more complex then it is.

Hope this helps man.

Great posts, Techdeath.

I love the guy in the 2nd video, but then I may be a bit eccentric myself.

Actually, not true. He learned the pattern fairly quickly, but it took him 6 months to get the endurance to play it for approximately forever.
