Re: Giving Thanks Hey Taino,
I'll have to keep the Boric Acid in mind..never thought of that. I like the eco friendly part. But you know the older I get the less I like the thought of killing anything, even insects. I draw the line at them entering my house,..wherein they will shurely perish if they cross the threshold. They won't pay rent and want to eat everything. Kind of like a few roomates I've had over the years.
I loved to tap on anything and everything I could, just like you. The round handles of wooden cooking utensils comes to mind. I asked my mom once if I could cut the handles off to use for drumsticks and she looked at me with the most quizzical expression. It wasn't long after that that I had my first experience with real sticks and drums since I'm sure Mom knew she would have to do something to preserve her kitchen tools. (I have related that experience in a previous post). My mom was a great supporter of my musical aspirations. They were clueless (I think) to what they were getting themselves into! Sounds like you had the fortune to grow up in a real musical family, and I would feel blessed indeed to know a bona fide native american wiseman like your father. |

Re: Giving Thanks Why thank you sir. I'd do anything in my power to get the old farm back. Though I'm working on it through the Tribal Council for the past couple of years now. I mean it's not easy to get 111 acres back from the government. The last time I was there, I saw a bunch of squatters there. I'm not looking to kick them out, but if I win this war, they either help keep up the land or go back from where ever they came from. I'm taking about tobacco, coffee, and all sorts of vegetation, including farm animals even horses. I also saw granite mining going on there. It's like the Lakota trying to get the billions from the oil companies. Since they've been running some oil pumps there since the late 1800's. I feel that this will come to pass real soon. I'll send you a PM on this soon. I don't want to put this stuff on the forum. OK |

Re: Giving Thanks Wow...
I'm surprised that guy went through not being able to play that gracefully...
I'll have to tell my boyfriend about this...
All he does is complain about how he doesn't get better and how he can't get new heads and all this crap.
Maybe this will make him be more thankful for what he can do. |

When I have an experience like the one related above it always humbles me to the core and forces me to reflect on just how fortunate I am. Meeting people like my friend Jeff always forces me into some thought and reflection on just what could be in the blink of an eye. Jeff would be ecstatic to be able to play drums again on any heads he could. Perhaps your boyfriend should take stock of all the positive things in his life (like you most likley!) and thank his lucky stars! |
