i know there is a big thread on double bass drumming,but i don;t want this post to get lost and forgotten in that thread,so thats why im here.

i just don;t get this technique.i don;t know how to make it work properly,i've tried.can anyone help me out with this?
also,is this technique for anything other then just continues 16ths or 32nds? can it be broken up for broken figures? is it even a good technique for double bass? and is this the technique that mike mangini uses for double bass? if not does anyone know what mikes technique is? just wondering because he feet are awesome.

That looks to me like the "Heel Up" technique. Playing heel up is very popular and many of the top names play this way including Mike Mangini.

Making it work correctly takes practice. It will be a very wierd way to play if you are used to the heel down technique, but once you switch you will realize how much the heel down was slowing you down as well as robbing your feet of power.

That technique is all i use when I'm playing double bass, I find its hard to play when I just adjusted my thrown and or when I switched double pedals. I also usually use that when I'm playing my hi-hat, someone once thought I was a lefty.

P.S. The drummer of All That Remains thrown is really low, and he also uses the H.U. technique, and its just as strong. He also is a traditional grip drummer who likes to do rim shots.

spiky drummer has some great posts on double bass you should check out his youtube channel(guy in the tigger suit). and im having some trouble achieving fast speeds like the one in the first vid and i think its because of my pedal. is it possible to get that fast on a bad double pedal like the one i have? Typically we become accustomed to the pedal we play with and can eventually get good speed with it but there are acceptions to that due to equipment capability. It is possibly you have reached the point that your pedal just can't go any faster.

Isnt the Gibraltar Velocity as strap driven pedal?
