Need some advise

Hey guys. I'm new here but I'm a drummer myself for 6 years now. I do have some problem. I am pretty bad at 16 beat on hi-hat. I can't get it constant. Besides that, i would like some suggestion on songs which i should play on keeping my tempo, be more steady and smooth. Thanks.

Jimi Hendrix, "Up From The Skies".

Really simple Hi-Hat tempo and beat. And you really don't have to use brushes.

After all, it's for study practice.

Re: Need some advise

Thanks mate for that. Also i want some songs suggestions like beats with mainly cowbells hittings. Example like Maroon 5 - She will be loved. That type. Not to slow and not to fast.

Re: Need some advise

Oh well that would be "Simply Red".

Other options like Louie Armstrong, Mountain - Mississippi Queen and so forth.

Re: Need some advise

What will help your 16th and 32nds on the hats would be strengthening your arms using a practice pad or a pillow. Start slow using your wrists only, no bounce. Slowly work the tempo up in speed. A half hour a day on a pillow will have your chops in top shape in no time at all.

Re: Need some advise

I don't own a practice pad, so i guess i'll go with the pillow. But i realize that my left hand is weak (not as strong or even to my right one). In other words, when I'm doing a flam tap my left flam would be bad.

Re: Need some advise

Actually a pillow is the best method so you are in good shape. You can continue this same approach with your rudiments also, you will be amazed at how much better this makes your hands.
