Re: What sticks do you use?

I have been using Ringo Starr sticks, 5AL Promark and sometimes I use Steve Jordan sticks. I realize that when I use different type of sticks, I play differently and my drumming sound changes. I have used in the past my other different stick and they just give me a different feel in playing.

Re: What sticks do you use?

I love the fine, light Vic Firth American Jazz AJ5 Hickory sticks. I haven't broken one in years, and they are easy on my aging arthritic thumbs. I also get a lot of millage from the Vic Firth Cool Sticks. I sure could use some help with brushes though. Maybe it's time to invest in a top quality pair, and a fresh snare skin...

Vic Firth 'Harvey Mason' Model (also SD2's and SD4's), use Vic Firth 'Steve Gadd' brushes, Promark lightening rods and other rods. Have Vic Firth Dreadlocks and use them occasionally...

Re: What sticks do you use?

My stick bag has....
Vic Firth AJ5, AJ4, signature Steve Gadd, 7A, SD5 Echo, Pro Mark Lightning Rods, Hot Rods & MT3 Mallets and Regal 550W wood handled brushes. All of the sticks have wood tips of varying shapes. I have some sticks with nylon tips at home, but I just don't like the sound. It always seems harsh or makes the cymbals sound cheap, whether I'm playing Zil A's, Zabian HHX & HH's or Paiste Twenty Masters. And the shape of a wood tip really does make a difference in how both drums and cymbals sound.
