Vic Firth Sticks

Hi all, so until recently I had been playing with Pro-mark Hickory wood-tipped 5b sticks. Recently I have been unable to find these at my local music store, although they've always had them in the past. Does anyone know if they stopped making them? Either way I have decided to try Vic Firth, and I got a pair of hickory 5b's and hickory "extreme 5b's". Does anyone know the difference between these two sticks? I'm having a hard time telling, so maybe it doesn't matter, but I'd like to know. Thanks!

Re: Vic Firth Sticks

Vic Firth makes excellent sticks. You did not say what kind of playing you do. I use the 5-A myself and I steer clear of the heavier woods such as Oak, which I find as being too heavy. The last time I used a "B" stick was when I was in marching band, where heavy hitting is a must.
I am not familiar with the "extreme" series of sticks. Perhaps you could check out the Firth website and see whether those sticks are still being made and if so, where you can purchase them, and what the differences are between the various sticks.

Amazon.com has these under the search look for Pro-mark Hickory.
