Druming styles

Lots of drummer's try to copy other drummers styles.

When you really need to express your own feelings and co-ordinate with the rest of the band.

Stay with the groove and at the same time keep up with your own self of being "THE DRUMMER".

Keeping up with the band and at the same time being yourself.

Being with a band is not like being tied to an umbilical cord.

I've played with all sorts of bands, some liked my style while others didn't.

But in the end I compromised to play their needs.

And then I moved on to be myself.

What I'm trying to say is to be yourself and keep on drumming your own way.

This forum is not a club of drummers. It's about learning from one another and respecting everyone.

May the creator be with us all.

Re: Druming styles

My personal playing style came from not only my influences but what I imagine when I hear the songs. Somehow I fuse Igor Cavalera, Stevie Wonder, Richard Christie and many other drummers generally influenced by jazz fusion in some way. Here's a couple with similar styles.

Re: Druming styles

You have a great style. Sorry I'm an old man, as you've seen In my previous threads.

You have all my respect.

Just moved back to NYC and am looking for more kids to teach. Baby steps as we call them. Starting with rudes and things of that nature.

What will be the next generation of drummers, Who knows with all the electronic stuff going on.

I'm still with acoustic style of drumming but who knows.

I'm only 65.

Re: Druming styles

Old? My parents are both 65, and my main influence for a while was Stewart Copeland (1952) .

Re: Druming styles

Stewart Copeland was quite versatile in his works.

I only go as far back a Buddy Rich and Gene Krupa.
