Coated or clear heads?

Well people have different preferences when it comes to heads - Remo vs Evans, coated vs clear, etc.

Coated heads give off a warmer tone and a duller, more mellow attack.

Clear heads aren't as warm in tone as the coated heads but they have a sharper and more defined attack. Plus I think they look better on the drum set.

So here's a poll. What kind of drum heads do you use? Coated or clear?

Remo coated ambassadors. After seeing Steve Gadd use em' I was hooked. And, you cant really use brushes on clear heads.

Clear pinstripes for me. I'm going to try some Evans heads soon though, not convinced by the pinstripes.

I have an old Rogers kit which I'm refurbishing at the moment, when it's done I'll put coated heads on it for that classic tom sound.

I use clear for the toms (gives more of a boomy quality) and coated for the snare (muffs it a bit, helps to equalize with the rest of the set).

I have all coated head which are Aquarian texture coated for my rack toms and response II for floor toms and I'm very satisfied with them. They are easy to tune and stay in tune for a long period of time, moreover Aquarian coating is very durable and hard to get dirty (even if I play alot with brushes).

Used to be devoted to remo pinstripes but they went dull very fast. Moved to Ambasadors but still wasn't getting that great punchy attack that my fav drummers have. just put Evans G2 clear on a week ago. I'm in love big time.

Evans Emporer Pinstripe. It get's a boomy enough sound, but I can tune it to give it nice thud if I want.
