I just started going back over the rudiments myself. Wish I would have stuck with all that stuff over the years, but...alas. Considering taking classes at a local college just to see what I'm missing.

I'd say one more bad habit is to lock in on just one area of study. like say Rudimentary study, when you still need to remember stick control, hand to hand technique, and co-ordinated independence.

Posture is key for me due to the fact of where your arms need to hang and wrist position

I'm in the exact same boat. Wish the past 13 years was taken more seriously.

I think my technique is decent, but I am afraid that 10 years down the road I will be regretting not spending time practicing it. I wish I had a drum teacher, but I guess I have to take the initiative myself.

Re: Bad Drumming habits to avoid

My worst habbits are picking my noise and drinking a bottle of budweizer wile playing ...this can lead to timeing issues blured vision and a hand full of snot....

Rubbing the sticks on my balls..

using the drum stick as a back scratcher....

sticking a drum stick in the crease of my butt and running it along underneath the bass players nose wile he is tuneing up..LoL

looking at girls when you should be counting the band in

walking off stage when the bass players is doing a bass solo to get a beer.

putting the drum kit in the middle of the stage and spreading out so the guitarist and bass player have no room to move ..........
