Take every opportunity you see to better yourself as a musician and drummer. I know it's kind of general but thats what I try to do and I am improving at a good rate.

Never drop your sticks.

Always try different grooves to stay out of a slump.

Always try harder riffs and fills.

Expand your horizons, try some jazz once in a while.

Re: Best advice in being a drummer

Always remind yourself you're a great drummer. Don't let anyone discourage you. There's room for all of us -- simple timekeepers and monster soloists.

Keep a pair of sticks in the car so you can play whenever you've got a spare moment.

Stay inspired -- read magazines, watch videos, window shop at your favourite music store, search for deals at pawn shops.

Keep up with the current trends -- double bass, open handed playing.

Like that one, '59. The brotherhood includes both Portnoy and Ringo -- all of us.
