So I just found me a pair of Paiste Signature Power Hats (discontinued) and craigslist for a measly $100!! These go for close to $475 new, so I pounced like a tiger! We drummers aren't known for our silent hunting skills, but I managed to beat down the herds of others and got them! They're a little small (13") but I have experience with 13"s (cymbals!) and I can handle it. I just jammed with a cool guitar/bass player in my studio, and I have to admit, I love them! They KILL funk, and have a nice closing sound. I like them for rock, funk, jazz (sound great) and even dabbled in some R&B (not my thing, but HEY!) I liked them SO much that I promptly traded my other hats (Avedis New Beats AND Vintage New Beats from the 70s!) to this guys who remakes drum kits. He buys them used, refurbishes them, and resells them. He's a cool guy, and he made me an offer I couldn't refuse.
I now have an almost brand new Yamaha YD Series kit, repainted a cool blue-ish grey, which sounds SO good (way better than the old Dixon I had,) along with a pair of MINT Paiste Signature Hats, and I finished my 8 mic drum setup, and it was a good day
I am also the newest proud member of the Paiste Army! Thanks Inferno (namedrop)
