Cool 'Old' newbee from East Texas -

Greetings folks. Just bought 1st set in 45 yrs ! Back in the day my set was a mixture ie Slingerland, Rogers, etc. Not sure what cymbals / hi-hat I had. Anyway, decided on the Gretsch Energy 'kit' w/Sabian cymbals, etc. I figure they are better than I am! Also a Gibralter motorcycle seat throne with a back to hopefully hold my 299 + ? lbs. Should be here anyday. Question: I like banners of the stuff I have for the garage wall. Any place I could find a Gretsch Drum Banner on-line? Any feedback appreciated. Great forum.

Welcome to DSC GoodRock. Another Gratsch Man on the forum is great to have.

I got a Gretsch Custom a few years ago myself.

We'll see what we can do for you on that banner.

In the mean time look around and have fun here on the forum.

Hello GoodRock, Welcome to the site. I am a newbe here also. My first drum set was a 1968 ludwig fab four kit. I was 12 yrs old. I have been playing on and off for my most of my life. Didn't play for about 12 yrs, got back into the drum seat just a few yrs ago with a band of older players such as myself (56yrs old) just to get the rust out. It took me about a year to get my chops back somewhat and, now I am a little more comfortable playing. It was fun, we played car shows, and any type of benefits. Gretsch makes good equipment. I ended up playing yamaha, I didn't know too much about them or other kits, the price was right, but they seem to be ok. Have fun playing again.

Hi Topsy. Appreciate the post. Well, it all came in 2 boxes and was not a whole lot of fun putting together as I tend to have problems with lite bulbs! I think it is all ok with the possible exception of the hi hat. I will take over to the local music store and ask for confirmation. As for 'playing' for the first time in all these years, well... help me and thankful the neighbors are not real close by ! Probably good it's just me and the 2 pups.

When you get your drum set, up and running, see if you can post a picture. Good luck with your kit, that gretsch custom is a professional kit, have fun.
