Question Weather concerns

Been awhile since I have posted but need some guru advice.Have a PDP lacquer all maple set that I have kept in the garage,I live in North Carolina on the coast where the winters are not so harsh but the humidity can stifle you in the wet summer months.Of course we all know wood expands and contracts according to the weather and my concern.....how bad of an effect, and can the weather actually ruin the shells?

Re: Weather concerns

The first thing I would do is get them inside! Since they are laquered and not wrapped shells, they may have escaped serious damage (if the hoops/heads are on) I always look inside at the the lug mounting screws for signs of rust when buying used drums---plywood will warp when exposed to excessive humidity, and drum shells are plywood---check roundness when you change heads, and hope for the best!

Hippy's right! The winter you guys have had so far, I'd get those guys inside ASAP. First things first. Let them adjust (especially if there is a big diff in temp when you bring them in). Keep us posted on how it goes...
