I'm curious where this is from and what criteria they use for the rankings. I'm sure we could all make lists and they would each be different and right. Kind of a funny thing ranking someone's artistic expression against another's. Everyone has their own form of creativity that is unique to them. It's great there are so many drummers out there who inspire us in different ways. I've had so many different drummers over the years that I considered to be my biggest inspiration at the time. Neil was definitely my first though. I spent countless hours when I first started playing listening to Rush and learning the drum parts. I still remember most of them up through Presto lol.

I'm with Yachay, there's no way a list like that can ever be correct (or even exist) outside the realms of subjectivity. They can be fun, but I always find it kind of pointless and occasionaly annoying.

So, I'll just throw a few names out there in no particular order:

Bill Bruford
Britt Walford
Danny Carey
Charles Hayward
John McEntire
John Herndon
Todd Trainer
Matt Cameron
Jack Irons

.....

I'm not just trying to be clever by including some drummers from obscure bands, I truly believe that those guys have all presented the world with some seriously amazing and unique drumming, each for their own reasons. I urge you to check them out.

It would be good to share some tips on relative unknowns as well as citing the obvious great drummers, between us we must know a whole bunch of awesome but low-profile drummers. Let's spread some word.

I think I remember seeing this list on a website a while back. Of course it's subjective since people hav different styles and stuff but it is interesting to rank them.

I would say you have a lot more than just 'rock' drummers on your hands. It's a good/extensive list at the least and your knowledge of who's out there is definitely well grouned and well placed.
As for constructive criticism I would only ask to delete Phill rudd from your list. Everything else seems fine and dandy!

How is Keith Moon up there? I mean lets me honest, if it wasn't for him being such a nutjob (In a good way), he wouldn't even be close.
