yea but there are some people that come very close but they still consider themselves to be students like neil peart. I mean the guy was taking lessons just a few years ago and then in one year went from match to tradtional and then recorded a whole new album.
I would say that he is very close to drum god level but you would never hear him uder it even to himself and he wouldnt be afraid to start taking lessons again at anytime.

Of course we're all students. We can't possibly learn everything there is to know about drums. Because of this I think it's important to specialize in something - a style of music, a certain type of feel, or a specific instrument. If you do this and become an expert in this specific field you choose, you'll more likely be more successful than someone trying to be good at everything.

I know I always tell myself I suck!!! LOL I have so much confidence!!! Hee Hee!!! I can play with pretty much any professional bands ...... the key word is "pretty much". ( ok 2 words) There are soooo many different styles and genres of music and more are on the way!!! It's just plain too hard to learn them all at once!!! Take it all in stride and aim higher !!!!

I'm a mix of "intermediate 1, 2, and 3" - I do play professionally, I do play a number of styles, but I also don't play anything "too fancy."

I doubt I'll ever achieve the level of "Expert 1" as defined in this poll - to me, that's the rarefied air of Vinnie Colaiuta, Jack DeJohnette, Dennis Chambers, Buddy Rich, et al.
