Just got a manager.

I wasn't quite sure where to put this, but the forum page says you can type anything band related in here.

We just scored ourselves a manager and I was wondering what sort of experiences some of you may have had in this area.

Currently, it's only a verbal agreement that we don't have to pay him anything until we get signed. This guy runs his own all ages punk venue in the city so he's not just counting on us for revenue, plus he says he's in with alot of local industry people and is more than happy to get us other over 18 shows.

He's seen us play and thinks we're worth a shot, so this all seems pretty cool.

Any advice y'all?

My main advice at this stage is to be in touch with your gut-feeling. If he's not charging you anything that's great, as long as he's not taking more than a fair share at the other end - until you get signed and bag a proper booking-agent a lot of transactions are just cash in hand, or a door-split thing. Just keep an eye on things. Obviousy I'm not saying "be suspicious of this man" because I've never met him, perhaps he's the most honest Jo in the world. Just trust your instincts.

I'm sure I'll have plenty more to say if you want, I've had a fair bit of experience with all sorts of industry types, so keep us informed. And good luck with it all.
