50 Ways To Leave Your Lover

Has anybody else learned to play this? Very cool groove. Great song. Takes maybe 20 minutes to learn, but months to get it sounding close to Gadd.

Heres a very cool "Grooves Of Gadd" pdf: Check it out!

Yeah, that's a great groove. It's amazing to note some of the beats that Gadd has come up with over the years - beats that make their songs instantly recognizable just from the drum part.

I vaguely recall (95% sure that I'm remembering this correctly) reading somewhere that originally, Paul Simon had intended for "50 Ways..." to have a sort of bossa feel for the A sections. IMO, this is one of those rare instances where, as good as the songwriting is, the drum beat just about makes the song - or at least, the arrangement. I don't think it would have been anywhere near as noteworthy a recording if Gadd had used a more "generic" beat.
