Awright folks

I'm actually a lead guitarist (Shame) but I'm wanting to seriously get into drums.

I'm 29 and from Glasgow in Scotland. Been in bands for the last 10 years (On guitar) but I've always had a wee shotty behind the drumkit everytime I'm in the studio and it's surprising what you can pick up.

I know most of my beats, time signatures and even a wee polyrhythm or two (My own drummer loves Meshuggah and Return to Forever so hey I just watch and learn)

I'm not tidy at all cos I don't have a kit to practice on but I'll be purchasing an electronic kit soon (Which i have a few questions about that I'll ask in anothers Section) to beat about on!

I like just about all forms of music, metal and classical/orchestration are probably my faves but I'm partial to piano stuff and acoustic rock!

Nice to meet you all!

Hey man, pleased to meet you. Some of the others might get the pitch-fork and torch out with a guitarist in our midst, but but we're all pretty friendly round here. I myself like to play alot of guitar and bass.

Meshuggah, that's some pretty full on stuff. I give them credit for their creativity, but there's only so much of their music I can take at one time. I'm more of a Tool and SOAD man myself.

Cheers mate,

I love Tool and SOAD too, I'm prettyy eclectic when it comes to things. I agree about Meshuggah, I generally only listen to them for their slower clever stuff, the faster mad stuff is technically good but not really my thing. I'm more into scandinavian powercheese rubbish Like Lost Horizon/Hammerfall and prog stuff like Symphony X/Dream Theatre etc.

It's gonna be good fun getting into drums tho, something new to get my teeth into. like I say I know most of the stuff in theory but actual playing techneque is another thing altogether.

Anyhooz cheers for the welcome, much appreciated!
