Re: portable drum riser

oh man, there are tons of ways to do that. I would build 2 identical frames with 2x6 inch lumber then use good plywood flooring for it. Build it some receiving squares in every corner of each frame to accept 4x4 inch lumber cut to the height dimension you want to raise your set. Definitely use screws then once you build them, connect them together with a couple sets of long bolts, washers and wing nuts for easy dis assembly. The 4x4 riser legs may not need to be fastened if you build the receiving box for them nice and tight. Might need a rubber mallet Velcro fastened to the bottom of the riser. the finished product may be heavy but when disassembled, it shouldn't take up too much room. Maybe figure in adding some handles to make transport and loading in and out a little easier.

Re: portable drum riser

Why dont you trying milk crates or those bakery bread trays. If you group them together i reckon it would be strong enough. You could cover it with a board, but I reckon it'd look pretty cool without a cover. Then you could weave some coloured spot lights or something in the crates and it will make a cool effect.
just a thought...
Cheers
