Hey, Guys and Girls; I'm new ...

And here's a little bit about me.
Equip: I have two sets sets currently. A 1968 Ludwig maple set w/ 26" bass. Think, "John Bonham" with a deeper ride tom. 5 piece. All Zildjian. Heavy Crash and 20" rides. 14" New beat HH. Pearl & Gibraltar hardware.
Th other is Home made from a drum shop proto from some good guys and a failed business. 20" Bass (24" deep), 6 piece. Good small club set.

That's mosly what I do; small clubs. I'm a dance drummer. Since 1974 I've been a drummer for hire. RocknRoll, Top 40, Country, Blues. Whatever I can get always involves people on the dance floor.

I persue the zen of time and groove over solo and flash. Still practicing with book and 'nome.

Always played in school, I had a great program where I grew up. Took a couple years of college jazz, The only thing I regret missing entirely is Drum and Bugle Corps. At the very least, I'd have fancy stick work for show off!

Now I concentrate on a steady swing for rock and blues. I will always love the late-sixties and early seventies British innovators that syncopated rock and made heavy swing.

I'm mostly a "feel" drummer and I defend the honor of Ringo and Charlie Watts to the ends of the earth.

Tim, you make me want to jump up and yell "Amen!" But I can't, cause I'm at work. I'm totally with you on regretting not doing drum line for flash, and on the persuit for the perfect groove and feel. I have been putting on a lot more of a show lately, but it's hard to go from a pocket drummer to a pocket/show drummer. Admittedly though, it is fun. And now I get compliments from people who aren't drummers. Haha!

Believe it or not, but a manager at a music shop I was giving lessons at once told me "Pete Best could play circles around Ringo." I literally laughed in his face. He was so full of crap. As soon as I told him WHY Ringo replaced Pete and his human metronome capabilities, he was speachless. It was nice to put him in his place.

Long story short, welcome! And look into adding Bernard "Pretty" Purdie to that list of feel drummers. He's like butter on a hot piece of toast. Finger taps between rim knocks... mmm...
