Crashable Rides

Hi everyone,

So my Paiste Alpha Flat Ride is dark and quiet and doesnt crash well. Does anyone know any rides which are bright and do crash well, if possible with a decent bell. A sabian AA Crash/Ride has been recommended to me, but I wanted to get your opinions?

Thanks

Re: Crashable Rides

I have a 16" Zildjian Avedus Crash Ride that works well for me.

Go to the drum shops and always try before you buy.

When it comes to cymbals, it's a matter of taste to the individual.

Let your ears be the judge.

I was in the same situation looking for a crashable ride. I ended eliminating an 18" crash and my 20" ride and got a 21" Zildjian Avedis Sweet Ride! This is the best of both worlds. Excellent controllable wash, articulate stick response and a mighty, semi bright crash! This cymbal is the best multi use cymbal I have EVER owned!

Re: Crashable Rides

Do you have the old Alpha line or the new one?
I use Alphas and I would say the Paiste Alpha groove ride is a very good Crashable ride
cymbal.

Re: Crashable Rides

Zildjian has a 16 inch Crash/Ride and so does Paiste. Both work well.

Re: Crashable Rides

Zildjian K Crash Ride, they have 18,20,21, and 22 - I have the 20' works amazing in both ways, pretty loud as a ride, louder as a crash - I also have the Sweet Ride in brilliant, and it's an amazing crash an even nicer ride... not a loud ping, nice for quiter music not louder music... but the bell on the sweet ride can penetrate anything if i were you I would try the sweet ride at a music store, and possibly the K 22 Crash Ride, that things a beast

But remember you don't have to limit yourself to one ride... you can have multiple for different occasions... I have my Sweet Ride and my Crash Ride, and plan to buy a 22'' Ping

Re: Crashable Rides

I use an older Paiste alpha "20 power ride. It crashes great. Lots of oomph and trash without the harshness of their modern metal rides. Bell could be better but its better than nothing.

Try stagg. they make some great rides and they're cheap as chips

Re: Crashable Rides

I use New Alphas, skin. Don't have an Alpha ride tho.
haven't heard much good things on Paiste's old Alpha Line.
But that ride sounds really good.
I still think the Groove Ride(21'') from the new Alpha line crashes excellently though.

Re: Crashable Rides

Zildjian 21" sweet ride I think is the most popular for crashing, though I don't know of its riding.

Oh, lol.
