Re: Crashable Rides

I have a Paiste sound formula 20" flat ride which does what I intended it to do. I had an 18" Zildjian crash ride, which was a better crash than a ride. It was great for live shows, but not so good for recording, which is what I do now. I also replaced all my crashes with Paiste Signature Series fast crash in 14,16 & 18 inch and also have an 18" Sabian medium crash. There are always trade offs in anything multifunctional. I do understand that many players do not have the cash or space for all the stuff they would like to have and must look for the best bang (or crash) for the buck. I would recommend any crash ride from Zildjian, Paiste, or Sabian in an 18" and let your ear do the choosing and do not be hesitant to consider a used one. I have yet to (wear out) a cymbal. I have a 20" Super Zyn medium crash that is fifty plus years old and still works. I have owned it for that long and it was used when I got it.
