Greetings Jack, my first kit was a 1959 Ludwig
Black Onyx 5piece Rock Kit. Lots of memories with that kit. Quality or quantity really isn't the issue. Slang would probably be more appropriate. I'm 58 and my son is 22. Two completely different eras.
In our time we learned to play collectively and creatively. Also there would be questions about who played better or who played the fastest. They were more about drum jam sessions and stick twirling than battles. And who was the fanciest drummer.
Today it's not all about speed for the x-gen and not much creativity. It's a combination of the two. I like my son's 200bpm style as much as I still enjoy the old style. So lets not get fooled by the title of this thread.
I was teasing Mr. Infero about Mr. Phil, and now Mr. Alec57 seems I was a bit too harsh. Well I guess that there were four wise monkeys and not only three. If we were to talk the old lingo, they wouldn't understand us either. Just like texting today does not compute to me.
Now if that takes care of the flim flam and jigging without a Zootsuit. Betcha the chickens are all coming to roost after all the cows come home after this.
