Re: The New v/s The Old Drum Battle

The previous paving the way for the new has always been the way of life. As a drummer I am proud of those who got me here in the way of influences, innovation and teachings because without them I would not be what I am today and could not be inspired to be better each time I play.

The drummers of the past keep the fire in me to drum, and the drummers of the present keep me challenged, fresh and open minded.

That being said..........old fart drummers are better. Nuff said!

Talking Re: The New v/s The Old Drum Battle

I remember when I was a little snot nose kid. I still wipe my nose with my arm even if I'm not wearing a shirt. When it dries, it makes good for scratching my back in places I can't reach. Kind of like a loofah.

Re: The New v/s The Old Drum Battle

My son plays industrial rock. I play free style jazz. I told him that it doesn't have to be a battle. Maybe a duet drumming thing or something like that. Maybe it's out of respect or maybe I'm too old and doesn't want to show me down. He at least told me that he would think about it.

Where is today's showmanship?

There is nothing cooler than a father and son duet on the same stage. Mixing the old with the new styles.

Reminds of when some one brings flowers to a funeral, when the flowers would have been greatly appreciated more, when they were alive.

You can dig my grave with a Hershey Bar, but lower me down with an Almond Joy.

Peace, Out

a duet would be really cool. i hope you get your son to do it.

i agree about the lack of showmanship. and i admit, im a guilty one. however i am working on it

Re: The New v/s The Old Drum Battle

I plan on doing all that gigging, videos, etc...
with my new set when I get it. that will also give me time to
spice up my skills a little bit as well.

Other than that little conflict before, I will eventually have a go at this.
It sounds like a lot of fun.
Right, it doesn't have to a battle.
Just a fun jam session, right?
Until then, keep practicing, guys!

A loofah is a body scrub sponge. And you thought all you would learn here was all about drumming.

Dude, that was so poetic it put a tear in my eye.
When I asked my son to play along with me, he reminded me of "Killer the vulture" in the old Bugs Bunny cartoon.
