Are drummers geeks

THis is going out to everyone but do any of you think that you geeks at heart.
I mean for me I stil love cartoons, comic books, anime, and star wars.

I dont do all the geeky thins like the convitions or costums or anything like that but I still love those things and I have know a few drummers out there like that so I was just wondering if any of you are into that stuff as well.

Not really. I think it depends on the person. No two drummers are going to be exactly alike obviously. Plus, drummers usually have the stereotype of being badasses with long hair, etc. Rebels who always play out of turn in practices. Haha, so yeah it really depends.

It's really hard to sterotype drummers now-a-days. There are so many different drummers with different personalities.

True. True. Some drummers are more outspoken (Tommy Lee) than others (Larry Mullen, Jr.) and some drummers are real business people while others are still more like kids. I'd argue that has influence on their playing style, but that isn't always the case.

There is such a variety nowadays that drummers can't be easily pigeon-holed like they used to be.

full metal, I think you're thinking more of marching band geeks - kind of like what was portrayed in movies like American Pie. But then again movies like Drumline kind of glorified the marching band drummers as well. So like everyone else said I think it can go both ways.

So many of the marching band geeks at my high school weren't geeks at all. Our drum section had the most stoners of any other section in the band . . . at one point, half of them got busted for pot, having smoked up right before a football game. So even the band geeks aren't geeks anymore. Of course, geeks can probably smoke pot nowadays if they want, but these guys were out-and-out hippies, not geeky in the slightest. It's kind of weird to realize that those stereotypes don't even make sense anymore most of the time.

The majority of drummers in my high school band were stoners and pranksters. The problem is when you get someone like that who gets a record deal and never grows up... *Cough* Tommy Lee *Cough*

Drummers have always been cast as the bad-boy, they're just noticable behind-the-scenes since the frontman takes all the lime light on stage. Still, from what I know, drum corps in marching band are pretty hardcore and have quite a bit of time on their hands.

And yeah, it really does depend on how much a drummer "grows-up," so to speak, but even not growing up has its perks.
